Bouncing around is usually an indication the the cable is not firmly located
in the speedo or the cable is binding somewhere.
I would add more grease to the cable and check the end of the cable to make
sure its not rounded off.
I have also had it happen when I've made the connection too tight.
In any event I would get a new cable before sending the speedo out for
repair.
I have a new cable for sale for $300.00.
Just kidding.
