Hi,
Besides the other stuff that's been mentioned, I'd like to add the
following:
1. verify that your gauge is reading correctly. I've been bit by this
before (both low and high oil pressure). Suffice to say that in one case,
I had a gauge read very high while breaking the motor in (more then 100
PSI!) and then started reporting low pressure (20 PSI at 3000-4000 rpms).
Turns out there was a problem with the motor! See 2.
2. The oil pressure relief valve can be stuck. If it sticks closed, you
get very high oil pressure, if it sticks open, you get very little oil
pressure. The neat thing about TR6 is that you can check the oil pressure
relief valve with very little fuss, it's the big acorn nut on the left
side of the motor (the driver's side for US drivers). I've seen the
springs break and I've seen the little valve thingie get little ridges
worn in that cause it to stick.
But verify that your gauge is okay and then go from there.
