Not sure if you just left this part out or not, but...

once you have loosened the velcro, you should pull the
fabric back away from the frame. Collapse the frame,
then fold the top down in over it.

Failure to do this can cause the frame to tear the
top on the sides.

By the way, my MGB midget top folds away exactly the
same as my TR-6 (in fact they look almost identical).
The previous owners of both had improperly stowed the
tops and both were torn (both sides) in exactly the
same spot.
