Engine Compartment Factory Paint Scheme

I'm striping down the engine compartment in preparation for painting, while 
the tub is suspended from the ceiling of my garage.

Large portions of it were undercoated and overcoated with paint by the DPO 
when the car was repainted.

Was this also production practice on the original?
