Phil, Do you have SU's on your TR6? If you do then some precision machine work
is required. If you still have ZS's then a complete rebuild would be in order
since ZS's use seals on the shaft that will deteriorate and can be replaced
without machine work. One area that ZS's are easier to deal with than SU's.
Also, does Illinois have a waiver system after a certain dollar amount is
spent in attempted repairs?
FYI, this is a good example of an emissions test trying to make sure your
vehicle is in good running order. If the carbs lek that bad then they
definitely do need a rebuild.
Also, if you have a thermo switch and vacuum connected to the distributor then
the high heat could have also had an effect.
