 You can always try cleaning up the internals and out side connections of the
rheostat, since they do get corroded. Check the little brass arm which turns
across a small looped wire. My lights were dim before the wiring harness was
replaced so all the terminal connections are  clean and getting full voltage
to the lights. Dielectric grease was used on EVERY electrical connection to
prevent future corrosion. Who says Lucas is the prince of darkness?
