Don't bother as all you'll wind up doing is destroying a feeler gauge. I
find it very convenient to follow the "rule of 13" to do mine with the
engine cold. Simply put the car in fourth gear and use the left front wheel
as a handle to move the car (and the rockers) into the desired position
(i.e., #1 open--adjust #12 etc.). After doing this a few times, you'll
begin to remember the sequence and only have to roll the car back and forth
once.
If you dare do it with the engine running, make sure you deduct 0.002" from
the factory COLD lash spec of 0.010".
