I enjoyed your replies to my question (as always!).  With regard to parts 
availability, my PI system was rebuilt a few years ago, so I haven't had to 
replace parts other than injectors.  I did buy 2 rebuilt injectors from 
Rimmer Bros. recently.  Aside from the extra time required for shipping 
(about 2 weeks), it was no harder to order from them than from TRF.  I did it 
all via the internet, including getting my questions answered by email.  In 
fact, TRF will get PI parts for an owner as well, but they just order from 
England, so I decided to cut out an unnecessary layer from the transaction.

With regard to getting someone to work on the system, I would agree that this 
could be a problem.  The Bentley manual has a decent section on the PI 
system, and I also have the factory service manual PI supplement.  I do 
simple stuff like replacing injectors, but my mechanic was initially reticent 
to touch the PI system.  After taking a look at it, however, he decided that 
it wasn't so different from other mechanic FI systems, and took it upon 
himself to make a number of adjustments.

I would agree that the PI system with the Lucas fuel pump would not be a 
desirable combination.  With the Bosch pump, however, the car will run in any 
temperature (10 hours at 90 F at 85 mph driving from Montgomery to Miami) 
without a stumble.  Of course, originality isn't that important to me.  I 
just like the 150 hp and smooth throttle response.
