Tom---If you can still exchange this alternator, the Delco one that will
fit best is the one for the 1980 Cheve Malibu. Even this one requires
some modification to get the belt to line up with the other pulleys. The
changes required, other than fashioning a second, or longer takeup
bracket, is to cut off 3/8" from a boss that sticks out at the front of
the case. (It will be obvious when mounting where the material is that
must be removed.)This is easy to do, since the case is aluminum. The
boss is only about 1/2" thick, so a hacksaw cuts thru it quickly.  Watch
that the pulley turns the right direction, for cooling.
