Don-A number of years ago, I had a similar problem with rotors. The engine
would start missing. Cleaning or replacing the rotor would cure the problem
for a while. On examining the rotor, I discovered that it was burned and
eroded on the left edge of the tip. The cure was to move and re-pin the
breaker plate enough so that the "firing" took place when the rotor was
centered with the dist. cap terminal. Perhaps there is some variation in
brands of rotors and dist. caps. I am not familiar with the MSD ign., but
with the Crane unit it is very easy to adjust the position when the rotor
fires.
