Walt---Fuel will continue to flow from the top of your fuel pump when you take the top off, if the fuel level in the tank is higher than the top of the pump. When I service this pump or the filter below the pump I pinch off the fuel line just below it with Vise grips, preset to where it only closes just 'so much' and doesn't do damage to the rubber. (A golf tee works also, but some fuel can spill in the process) The pump should go back together without any leaks. Dick T. |
