The column has to come out. There is a good You-Tube by Steve Denton on the subject here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3c3MFig6jo . I found an easier way to remove the round rubber nubs that hold the bushings in place inside the column housing. Heat a 5/16" steel rod (or cut off bolt) red hot while holding it in vice grips. Plunge it into each nub and it will burn through the rubber down to the steel inner sleeve. Beats drilling them out and you will not damage the aluminum column

Does anyone have information regarding the installation of bearings/bushings in the steering column for a 1976TR6? I have ordered the upgraded bearings both top and bottom for the column, I wanted to know if you had directions on how to install them. I was hoping to not need to remove the steering column, but it looks like I will need to remove it . I could use some help with this if you have any experience and or instructions or know of a video that shows how to remove the steering column and the old bearings/bushings etc. Thanks Steve From: Wpta <wpta-bounces at autox.team.net> On Behalf OfJ.R.
