I kinda like the advice given by Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings, the Toyota
agency supplying vehicles to aid agencies and NGOs. Their recommendations
regarding fuel levels for vehicle storage are (1) for shorter term -- say
less than 6 months -- fill the tank to minimize any moisture condensation,
and (2) for longer term storage -- say 6+ months -- run the tank level down
(or even drain the tank) so that when the vehicle goes back into service
any old fuel is immediately diluted with fresh fuel. I've followed this
logic with two of my vehicles stored for many months in recent years (both
Toyota/Lexus cars or trucks) and it's worked fine.
If you have access to E0 gasoline, go with that too. I've had a couple of
cases where fuel pumps (on my BMW R1200GSA ) were likely saved by E0 over
E10 or other ethanol blends
