[TR] move steering rack?

I am in the process of replacing the timing chain cover for a 1972 TR6 with the Goodparts one (there were lots of oil leaks up front)   https://www.goodparts.com/product/timing-cover-two-piece-aluminum/

The hole just down and to the left of the chalked hole was stripped.  That helicoil is in.

Next I need to put a helicoil in the chalked hole; it is also stripped.

The steering rack makes that impossible.

Iā€™m thinking I need to disconnect the steering rack on the passenger side so I can rotate it up and out of the way.

Iā€™m open to ideas here šŸ˜Š

I did think of just using a bolt with a slightly larger thread ā€“ probably metric.  Typical move for a DPO!
