[TR] TR6 vs 240 Z

 Fun indeed.  For the writer.  He drove one example of each and made sweeping generalizations.  I take exception about how difficult the TR6 is to start.  Mine leaps to life and the slightest hint of starter engagement.  This is the case when the carbs are set properly.  Apparently his car had some hack fiddle with the carbs.  Or it was that old mechanical PI.  (Did PI cars have a choke?)

He didn't mention that the Datsun I-6 was a near exact copy of the Mercedes-Benz six cylinder engine.
But the real unmentioned advantage Japan had was the exchange rate.  North sea oil made the British Pound quite strong making exporting to the US difficult indeed.
