I've always used my cheap but effective HF puller

if the puller point is too small (sinks into the crank nose) you may need
to find another bolt to insert in the crank and put a counter sink in it to
center the puller. a bit difficult to position the jaws with the timing
cover in the way, but I have done it a number of times, albeit on
Triumph sixes
