[TR] 4 cylinder oil seal

I thought they were supposed to leak oil! TRF has it for $185, $ 225 with the centering tool. A German TR 4 racer designed itand it's Vitron with no machining required. (HP596)Joe Mato62 Wood RoadRedding, CT 06896917 232 1555

A friend into American cars has just gotten a Sunbeam.  It's basically I
Tiger I believe but the engine has been replaced.  I've sent him the sign
up stuff from autox.team.net for Tigers but in the mean time, he's looking
for the fuses.  Are they in the engine compartment?  Anyone know?

Thanks,

RonL

Some time in the recent past I thought I read that Moss Motors was offering a optional Rear seal for those of us who years ago Machined off the scroll to use the ?New? seal only to find out the instructions had  the new surface too small.
I didn?t pay it much attention that crank was in the attic. Well With the failure of my current crank I am now forced to use it or find another crank.
Can?t find anything on Moss website. Anyone know about the replacement seal?
Thanks

Bob,

I dropped off 4 cranks at: https://britishautosalvage.com/index.html a
few months ago. They will all need machining but there were no cracks.
He is located a bit east of Rochester NY. 3 cranks had the timing chain
sprocket.

I also think there is a replacement seal that uses the current crank.
Cant remember who sells it but many will reply to your query I am sure.

Bob

Yes, with the latest rear seal design, no crankshaft machining is necessary.  It incorporates the scroll along with a Viton seal.  I think all of the BMC suppliers are selling it now.

Joe Alexander can help you with the new Viton seal.  Just installed one a few months ago, easy peasey.

Years ago put the old style, latest and greatest, seal in that needed machining.  What I remember about that car is that it leaked less than before.
