While this may seem blasphemy 😊 I put in pertronix flame-thrower 40Kv coil in the ‘3a.  I had a lucas sport coil and a spark indicator showed spark then the new coil was insanely brighter.

I do wonder if the lucas one from the major vendors is just plain crap 😊 personal opinion.
