I have seen that done with balled up newspaper.Would this be an upgrade?  An all metal repair? Both seem to be seeds of disintegration built right in...

I won't mention what car it is, as the person who sold it to me may be on the list.......
 
I have seen a lot, but this one is particularly ingenious:  a hole in a sill repaired by inserting 4 “Brillo” pads and then covering in filler.  Oh, if these cars could just talk !
