Possible, but I don't know. My guess would be that they've gone out of
their way to get a pump made by someone with rights to use the AC name, so
it can have the 'correct' AC logo on it. And the price reflects what it
wound up costing them.
A genuine AC water pump for my Buick was almost $300 even with what I assume
was a much smaller markup; they don't sell cheap. Chinese knockoffs are a
lot cheaper of course, but they can't copy the logo and still sell in this
country.
BTW, I found a 2003 TRF catalog that shows the list price for REP340 went up
to $37. And it no longer mentions the lack of priming lever.
