My garage find found me while I was at a gas station. The owner asked me
if I wanted another one. He had to move for a new job on short notice
and had a non-running TR3A in the garage he needed to get rid of
quickly. The car was complete and basically just worn out. It needed a
drive train, suspension and brake system rebuild plus new paint. The
engine had not been started in over a decade. The car was one of those
projects the buyer never got around to doing. But it did have a good
complete hard top and excellent condition factory leather seats, the
same colour as mine. Mine had really bad reproduction springs that was
like sitting on a pad of jello. He offered it to me for $300 if I could
get it off the property before the end of the week. $300 changed hands
and I towed it home.  The body was nice and unrusted but in desperate
need of new paint. The windscreen was cracked. The car was complete and
an easy rebuild project. However I did not need a second TR3A. The
hardtop came off to go on my car, the seats got swapped, and I traded my
leather shift knob for the other car's walnut shift knob which I thought
wold go better with my Motolita steering wheel. Then sold the TR for
$3000 to someone in Menlo Park, CA who was eager to restore it.

Every once in a while the fickle finger of fate can tap you on the
shoulder when you least expect it.
