Interesting discussion. I’m currently rebuilding my TR4A engine and have 3 pilot bearings. One is new and they all fit loosely in the crank. My question is should it be loose in the crank, some I’ve asked say OK and others say no and to locktight it into the crank and or knurl it so that it fits tight. I’d appreciate opinions and reasons for your thoughts.
Thanks,
JVV

It’s in the freezer now. Fingers crossed. Thanks. Jim

Hi, Jim. I've had success putting the bush in the freezer for half hour, then installing after heating the flywheel with a little propane flame.
Good luck!

My new pilot bush for crank does not fit in easily. I remember doing this in my TR6 motor and no issues. Is there a technique to use to get bush in without damaging opening or bush?
Thanks
