Thanks for sharing, Geo. 
Excellent, simple and inexpensive solution. Easy to clean and looks good too. And from what I can see the rest of the engine compartment is very tidy. 
I see a correctly painted fender bolt. Is that original paint? Most restorations get new fasteners that usually don't get painted.

Sorry, no help on paper filters - what I use are the original ones (that can effectively stop anything larger than a BB) ensconced in foam koozies.
