[TR] Another over drive concern

I had a similar set of circumstances with the OD on a 67 TR4A with an A type: OD worked fine on first use at the start of a drive and would disengage without a problem, but subsequent uses resulted in a 6-to-10 second delay before the OD would engage, if it engaged at all.
Took the tunnel off and the solenoid appeared to be working. Next, while driving, I'd switch the OD on and reach over to feel that the lever on the passenger side of the OD was indeed moving. It turns out that it wasn't moving far enough. A little push and the OD would engage.
After trying several things, the fix was to replace the (possibly original) solenoid. It appeared to still function, but lacked that last 10% to actually engage the OD.
New solenoid, OD works reliably.
YMMV, of course. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Subject: [TR] Another over drive concern

Just finished a 1200 mile trip with the TR250.  Only hiccup was the overdrive:
When first starting out , each day, OD worked great.  After a short time OD would not engage.  I would flip lever on column, the amp meter on the dash would show a draw but it would engage OD.  Tried 3 to five times minutes later and it would engage.  Sometimes it would take 5 to ten seconds to engage.
Its an A type OD.  Could it be a bad solenoid?  Or looking at the other link a bad relay?  I really don't want to take the tunnel off.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Ron
