Do you need to cut new threads, or just clean up old ones?

For repairing existing threads, Sears/K-mart sell a nice set that works well. It covers more sizes than the usual tap & die set, and the tools are designed to roll the bent/damaged threads back into place instead of just cutting them off as a regular tap or die would.

In addition, they are designed to be turned with the same size wrench or socket as the original fasteners, which makes it much easier to use them where clearance is limited (for example, chasing manifold studs without removing them from the engine).

I can't really offer a suggestion for a regular thread cutting set, though; except to stay away from Horrible Freight.

The Hanson set I bought back in 1975 or so has served very well, but I have no idea if they are the same quality or even if the name still belongs to the same company today. However, the set I see on the Walmart web site looks exactly like the one I have, except my case is green rather than blue.

(Of course, I've had to replace or resharpen the ones I use the most. Carbon steel is certainly not going to last as long as HSS, but also costs a lot less.)
