[TR] can I put my empty gearbox in the dish washer.for cleaning?

Most (probably all) dishwasher detergents are caustic and unfriendly to aluminum......

Most of the grease and oil  is off it.

I've put foil trays in the the  dishwasher they come out tarnished.  WIll I do any damage to a gearbox shell?
If so, I'll do it at night when the misses does look.
