A bit delayed due some technical problems but here’s my pic and story from Drive Your Triumph Day.

So I’m stopped at a light and some guy (Chet) jumps out of his truck in the next lane and comes up to my window. I hadn’t cut anyone off (lately) so I was more than a bit surprised this guy was standing there. He says I’ve got some parts to give you that fit this car (Spitfire MK III). I followed him to his house and he proceeds to give me a brand new dash cover ($149 value) and an air damn ($100 value??), that had all the hardware and even the tube of adhesive for the dash cover (seen below). Chet said he’d had Spitfires over the years and had sold them but still had these last few parts and didn’t want to just toss them.

The irony was that I was on my way to the post office to mail some fellow listers some free o-rings for their PDWAs, so maybe paying it forward paid off, much faster than usual this time.

Sometimes just driving your Triumph has added benefit, including giving your granddaughter a ride.

Last year I got this started with the Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club, and the story made it into the VTR December 1014/January 2015 edition. Below is the reminder email I just sent out to the Travelers, and thought I should send it to this list as well. Please read and send me a photo as described below.

February 10th is the birthday of Sir John Black, who bought the rights to Triumph to create cars to compete with the soon to be released post-war Jaguars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Motor_Company

To celebrate this date, PLEASE drive your Triumph tomorrow, or at least take a photo of it. Take it to work, to the store, or for a country drive. Go by yourself or take your significant other, a friend, child, grandchild, or your dog. Meet up with some fellow Travelers. Then take a photo of your car. You and your car. Your car and your passenger. What ever! If your car isn't running, take a photo of it in your garage or under a tarp. Then send that photo to me with a brief description of where you are and who you're with.

If you don't want to go alone, there are two organized activities happening. A group of Travelers are going to Canepa Design in Scotts Valley, and a few Travelers are meeting at Alpine Inn for lunch and a group photo. Both are listed on the TTSCC Event Calendar. http://www.triumphtravelers.org/Activites/actperp/activityList.php

I'll work with Chris to get all the photos in the Tails & Trails, AND, like last year, we'll see if we can get it in the National VTR Publication. But we need you to drive your Triumph and take a photo!

With the great weather we're having, you have no excuse! Get out and drive your Triumph!
