[TR] Another Steering Wheel Question - TR6

While we are chatting about steering wheels...

I have several TR6/Spitfire steering wheels that are in great shape,
except for the spokes.  They look like brushed aluminum, but they get
rust speckles on them.  I hesitate to sand or scrub it off, not
wanting to ruin the current finish.

Anyone ever tried to clean one of these up?
