David,

I went with the cogged belt on my '3' based upon recommendations from several people.  

The notches improve the flexibilityupgraded of the belt which will reduce flexure damage 
and reduce power loss.  

When the '3' gets upgraded to an alternator and new water pump, I will be keeping the 
original wide belt in it's cogged style. even though it is fashionable to go with a narrow belt 
upgrade.
