[TR] denso alternator in TR3

for sureand we are not wired through the starter solenoid

Are you sure the heavy yellow wire is spliced together with the brown/white and brown/blue wires?  Many of the instructions on the
Internet say to connect the yellow to the starter solenoid, which will bypass the ammeter and cause it to never register charge.

There is something to be said for that configuration actually, since the stock ammeter is only designed for 30 amps.  I chose a
different route, and added a shunt on the back of the ammeter to handle part of the current.
