[TR] wiper gearbox grease

I would be interested to know what zinc oxide had in it in the 50’s that made it desirable.

I’m going to extrapolate here and guess that like ZDDP, there is something in the zinc that is special.

Subject: [TR] wiper gearbox grease

I want to clean and re-grease my wiper motor gearbox in my ‘56 TR3 while I have it out of the car. My manual states that it is necessary to use grease containing zinc oxide. I have only been able to find Castrol grease with the zinc oxide in countries other than the US. Anyone have any experience with this? Recommendations for other grease or sources for zinc oxide grease? It isn’t listed in the front of the manual but is stated in the electrical repair section of the wiper motor. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Pete
