I, for one, doubt that is what is happening.  I have certainly driven with
a head gasket that was well & truly blown.  Not pretty (not even pretty
smelling) but it takes a lot to shut down an engine.  No fuel or no spark
are the usual suspects.

But w/o some more data it is mostly guesswork.
