Hi Dave,
I think the value of the Moss kit is that everything you need is there in the box.
I used a Delco 7127 which I think is a 60 amp unit it I'm not mistaken. I have a narrow belt kit on my TR4A that also has a harmonic balancer incorporated in that kit. The trick is getting everything lined up correctly and actually getting it to fit. I am curious what other types of alternators people have used. I have a page on it on my website it you are interested in seeing how I did it.

I know we've been down this road numbers of times but I was wondering if,
among those who have converted to the use of an alternator, is there a model
someone can recommend? Since some folks ask why, I anticipate adding
electrical loads with various electrical needs and yes, I'd like to consider
use of LED headlamps. Seems like the Moss conversion kit (130-058) is
somewhat pricey, being north of $300.
