[TR] Door Window Replacement

In during an R&R to my TR4A passenger door I got to a point that I need your
advice with. What's the best way to separate the window channel  from the
window? The door window is out of the door and the bottom channel has a
rubber glazing between it and the window. I really didn't want to break the
glass, as I have another, but will if needed.

 

The channel looks like it's aluminum and will bend a little. Should I try to
open it? I have an extra one of these too, but was hoping there was a more
elegant way of separating them.
