[TR] spring compressor

What type of threads are used on this compressor? If they are Acme threads you cannot use a "Jam Nut" since that thread is designed to NOT lock up. Fastener threads are tapered and designed to bind up making the fastening secure (more or less). Tightening two nuts against each other will cause them to lock onto the threaded shaft. It don't work on Acme threads.

If you're using the commercially available spring compressor (i.e. from TRF - highly recommended) the pin keeps the nut that secures the plate from unscrewing while you're focused on the other end of the compressor.

Not having used a spring compressor (yet), what is the function of the
clevis pin. The rest of it is fairly obvious.
