I lubricated the rotating numbers for the odometer and trip odometer with
this stuff
http://www.amazon.com/Labelle-Industries-Plastic-Compatible-Motor/dp/B001W8XD44/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1398741929&sr=1-1&keywords=labelle+lubricants
Labelle #108. It is meant for small model trains, I figured since it was
light weight and plastic compatible it would be safe to put in between the
numbers on the odometer. Although speedo wasn't stuck, it was bouncing, the
lube got rid of most of the bounce, and it comes with a needle applicator so
you can put it (sparingly) between the number wheels to, hopefully, loosen
up the old gunk and lube the thing up a little.
