When two valves are "on the rock" you don't adjust them, you adjust the valve for their opposite cylinder.
On a 4 cylinder, those opposites are 1 and 4, 2 and 3.  On the 6 cylinder, that's 1 and 6. 2 and 5, 3 and 4.
