Seam sealer is applied over seams (eg where two panels overlap and are likely
spot welded). It keeps moisture out of the seam and is typically brushed on
and allowed to set up before painting. Dum Dum and its ilk is used between
panels eg when mounting fenders onto the tub.

Not to belabour this topic too much, is Dum Dum the same as what our body
shops refer to as "seam sealer"?
