 No offense to the fine folks at Red Line oil, but Triumph has always called
for "EP" lubricants in the differential. Dave's technical explanation
notwithstanding, I'd feel better staying with what the factory recommended!

Sorry for the confusion, your differential originally called for a SAE 90
GL-4, the MT-90 is a well suited replacement.
A GL-4 gear oil is suitable for a zero or low offset hypoid ring and pinion
as
well as straight pattern gears fitted in differentials.
A high offset hypoid gear, where the pinion approaches the ring gear well
below it's centerline requires an extreme pressure, GL-5 type gear oil. The
note refers to late model separate differentials which typically contain a
high offset hypoid gear.
