I am afraid that you will have to remove the shaft and turn it to the
correct position before you will fix the problem.

Subject: [TR] turn signal Cancel

Hi,

I think I know the answer to this, but I am hoping there is an easier way.

On my wife's TR 250, the turn signal cancels fine in one direction, but
not the other. I am assuming this means the cancel cam is not in the
correct position. I have heard people talk about just moving the cam
to get this fixed. But on another Triumph (GT6) I tried turning the cam
only to find that it was held in place by two dimples and it was not
springy enough to hold its shape. So I could not get it tight on the
steering column again.

So, I am guessing that the way to fix this is to loosen the steering
column clamp near the rack and turning the whole column, then adjusting
the steering wheel so it is straight again.

Is that correct? Also before I attempt this, where should the cam be
when it is positioned correctly and the wheel is straight? I know I
will have to do some trial and error, but if it is in nearly the correct
position now, it may be a different problem.

Thanks,
Roger Elliott
