don't remember where this thread started.
but i just thought id remind you that if your cleaning up the pots on SU carbs, they are accurately machined inside as a matched pair for the piston.
bead blasting or corroding the inside will assuredly mess up your carb performance.

At the auto parts store I bought a spray bottle of aluminum wheel cleaner--this IS an ACID--the bottle says not for painted or coated wheels. I used it on aluminum wheels and it makes a beautiful color and finish, looks like it is fresh out of the mold, but it will again oxidize. So, I don't think the carbs are all aluminum and you should definitely test if you decide to try it.
