[TR] Rug Rat Seats in TR's

I have 2 rug rats in the family (1 -3 yr and 1 - 5 yr. old). I once  
made the mistake of giving them a short ride in my TR3 on the local   
private roads. Now I am being constantly being harassed for more,  
longer and faster rides on public roads. I wonder what the legal  
ramifications are in California when I  break down and relent to the  
pressure. I am sure some of you on the list have been in the same  
situation. Are vintage cars exempt? Are there seats available that are  
acceptable and fit in those narrow bucket seats?
I have retractable lap-shoulder belts that actually fit, even the 3  
yr. old with a small booster seat, quite nicely.
