Routine clean up - managed to drop one set of the needle bearings and
got to spend 20 minutes on my hands and knees....

removed the insulation from the field wires and replaced with shrink
wrap. Removed the brushes and holders - brushes are still about 3/8
inch long so I think they will last a while longer. Pulled the
armature and cleaned up the interior of the motor - cleaned the
bushings for each end of the motor and dabbed wheel bearing grease in
each hole and just a finger coat on the shaft - wanted little or no
excess. and greasing the motor shaft allows the grease to push out of
the hole vs - extuding in - (I was paranoid and pulled it apart to
check).

Motor back together, took it to the car and fired it up - ran nice and
quiet. Reassembly of the gear train was easy - I assembled the sprial
gear and bearings as a unit - liberal use of wheel bearing grease and
inserted each needle by hand - I tried to use tweezers but found my
pointy fingers worked better. I filled the gearbox case with grease
and pushed the gear/bearing assembly home. I then mated the motor to
the gearbox - since I had fully assembled the motor - I ended up
spinning the gear onto the shaft - worked fine. More grease packing
and then inseted the straight cut gear. A few more screws and
complete. No self park on this one - easy.

Now - how do I go about packing grease into the wiper cable?
