Re: [TR] Modernity of Thinking

I used the 89mm kit in both my TR3s and am
very happy with the result. The
second car was dyno'd at 155 bhp (but had many
other things done to it).
The first car is more or less stock.

I too was
interested in the 180 bhp car in eBay. The relationship between
performance
and cost is a great example of an asymptotic curve: initial
gains are
reasonably inexpensive, but getting up around 180 the cost becomes
much more
significant.

....Yeah. ...Like I'm capable of it!
Anyway, it's been ten
years since I rebuilt the engine on my '59 TR3A, but
am going to do it again
this winter...as soon as I get a wood stove hooked
up in my...yes! I have a
garage this time!
....So...Moss has a piston/liner set for $578. Roadster
Factory has Mahle
for $900 that includes other stuff. Question: Mahle is
German, I think,
and served me exceedingly well last time. Anybody know about
the quality of
the Moss brand...or what it is?
Second question: I went with
an upgraded rear seal last time that had
instructions to clip the spring by a
certain amount. Has there been an
improvement in the rear seal solution in
the past ten years? I tried
archives, but can't seem to see a clear change in
styles. But I admit I
haven't been following the list closely these past
couple of years.
Thanks again, everyone.
