[TR] TR3 Backup Light

David - Haven't found an example of how it was mounted originally - even
Piggott's books don't show the later cars with the B/U light.  [see note
below re: Jonmac]

 

Alex Manzo made brackets and mounted on the inboard side of the rear
over-rider.   (Thanks for the pictures Alex.)

I don't have the O/R on the car yet, so that will wait for a couple weeks.  

However, rather than mount on the over-rider bracket, I was hoping to be
able to mount on the rear corner of the chassis

 (I added 'mounting holes' compliments of Paint) but it is possible that
either the over-rider or exhaust pipe may interfere.   If not possible, will
just wait and see what works best.

 

David - the L494 lamp shown in Alex's images is not the same as the one that
is on the TR2 in Piggott's book (p.39 - Original Triumph TR2/3/3A).  I don't
know if that means anything or not but it is the correct one for at least
the late TR3A's.  

 

Jonmac's email just came in and that adds another perspective.  I like the
idea of the passenger side and the chassis location I mentioned above may
work perfectly - however to line up it may be in the chassis itself rather
than the gusset.  I was thinking it would be on the driver's side (American
:^)) as the Piggott image was the only one I had for reference.  Will do
more research.  Also will think about the switch issue some more but I do
like the automatic feature - wonder if I could mount both?

 

Enough for now - this may be getting too long for the list..
