Instead of going for a V6, what's wrong with a 'baby' V8? Something like the 
Buick lump that Rover used in the Range Rover and others of that ilk. Very 
tunable, nice noise and very available.
I'm reliably informed that one Edward Schumacher who is resident in Ohio 
periodically purveys these power units to the nobility and gentry and maybe he'd 
cut you a good deal?
NFI - but maybe I'll get a warm beer off him on his forthcoming Europe trip?
