I'd be more worried about the effect on the exhaust system (and the driver).

The engine actually moves around a fair amount on it's mounts (unless you've
eliminated the rubber in those as well), and mufflers in particular aren't
as strong as you might think.  

One alternative is a flexible coupling between the engine and the (first)
muffler, but generally it's a lot cheaper and easier to just use soft mounts
for the exhaust.
