[TR] FW: Daughters First ticket

Every kid is different for sure, but...My older two had to spring for their
own vehicle when it came time to do much driving. When my youngest came along
we didn't handle it the same. The sense of responsibility when it comes to
vehicles is day/night difference now. As far as taking the car away for the
speeding ticket I'd probably cut her some slack if she accepts responsibility,
like a couple of weeks. Maybe it was a wake up call. Things would be different
on the second ticket. When I was 16 I got two tickets and the local judge
snatched my license for 6 months. My oldest boy started wrenching on the TR6
with me when he was still in grade school. By the time he turned 16 he had a
good feel of what was involved in keeping a car on the road. I felt
comfortable enough with his levelheadedness when it came to the car that
about a month or two after he got his license (it's been a while now) him and
I went to a track day at Nelsons Ledges road course and I turned him loose. He
gained confidence as the day progressed until he looped it in a corner. That
was the best driving lesson money could buy. He learned that something could
go wrong behind the wheel and didn't learn it on the street. When all the
other high school guys were doing stupid stuff on the street he was saving it
for the autocrosses I was taking him to on the weekends. You'd be hard pressed
to find a safer, better driver now. Sad part is he can clean my clock at an
autocross now:(
