Bob and all.  Reconsider this.  Sure there are a group of diehards that go for
broke at these events but that does not mean all entrants have to do that.
Back in the day we used to get a bunch of show cars at these two events.  The
owners drove at a reduced pace and at the end of the weekend the car was still
intact and they were glad they tried it. You wont be the fastest cars at the
drags but line up against a buddy who also does not want to beat on their car
and go down the quarter mile at your pace smiling all the way.  Same at the
autox, there is no reason you cannot do your runs at the same pace you drive
on a fast mountain road tour. There are plenty of us who would be happy to
give the folks who have never autox'd some tips at the events.  Give it some
consideration.
