Are you talking about the little screw-on collar?  I tighten them down very
firmly (using pliers and a spark plug socket), then add a drop of Loctite
through the end.

For the plug boot that fits over the collar, try crushing the female sleeve
a bit with pliers.  Usually can be done right through the boot without
harming the boot.
